Posted by Administrator on 3/31/2014 to Soy Candles
Spring is here but Winter is not going out like a Lamb. To get you in the mood and ready for Spring and warmer weather, we wanted to spotlight some of our Floral Fragrances listed in no particular order. Review descriptions of all fragrances.

Lily of the Valley ~ Color: Natural White This is a wonderful fragrance which captures the scent of this flower beautifully. A clean, fresh floral.

Honeysuckle Jasmine ~ Color: Natural white soy Lot's of honeysuckle with just the right touch of jasmine. This may remind you of the one in the JM candle line.

Lavender ~ A lovely sweet, crisp floral scent like an enchanting meadow fringed with springs of lavender.

Lilac ~ Color: Light Purple Such beautiful flowers and this candle captures them perfectly. Smells like true lilacs in full bloom. A strong realistic scent.

Plumeria ~ A floral scent of the most beautiful flowering trees of the tropics. Smells very similar to a well know BB Plumeria.

Birds of Paradise ~ A floral aroma with base notes of strawberry, vanilla, sweet pomegranate with hints of soft jasmine, rose petals and coconut.

Candles and Christmas

Posted by Administrator on 12/15/2012 to Soy Candles

Christmas is my favorite holiday.  I just love how the smell of a fresh cut tree creates a sense of coziness to a home. Candles also are great at doing this especially during the holidays. Aromas of Cinnamon Stick, Jack Frost and Mistletoe and Berries, make your home say "welcome".

Candles have a long history of being used during the holidays when many homeowners attached candles to the branches of  their Christmas Trees. Martin Luther, a monk, is credited with starting this trend in the early 16th century. The story goes that he brought home a tree and lit it with candles to show his children how the stars twinkled at night.

We certainly would not recommend doing this today but we do recommend burning holiday scented candles and what better candles to burn than eco-friendly soy candles made from 100% soy wax. This makes them the sustainable candle choice for your seasonal decorations.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Why Select Soy Candles?

Posted by Administrator on 11/27/2012 to Soy Candles

We are often asked what is different about Soy Candles and why they are a good choice for your home. There are several reasons why burning soy candles makes good sense. Soy wax is a natural ingredient made from soybeans. It's a great product for making candles because it burns slowly and cleanly. It holds scent well and has a nice cold throw while not in use and hot throw while burning. Soy wax can be dyed or left undyed in its natural creamy white color. We also offer an option of selecting our candles fragrance free for those customers who might be sensitive to scents.

However, while soy candles are great to burn in your home, there are some negatives to using soy wax.  Soy wax can be sensitive to changing temperatures and exhibit small crystals in the wax called "frosting".  This should not be considered a flaw since the candle will burn and smell fine.  It is also an indication that the candle is made without using paraffin additives which help to combat frosting. These small crystals are more obvious in a dyed candle so select undyed if this is a concern.

Boating on the CT River

Connecticut River Museum

My husband and I had such a great day out taking photos on the river.  Having grown up in Essex, I just love to explore and see how different areas have changed.  The good news is not much has changed at all.  It's still one of the most quaint towns in Connecticut. When I take photographs for our candle labels, I try and get a good variety but I do find I am able to get some beautiful shots in this town. The photo below is of the Becky Thatcher with passengers eager to see this beautiful resource. I think this shot was taken just south of the swing bridge by the Goodspeed Opera House.  The landing field is seen in the background. The Essex Steam Train manages reservations for the Becky Thatcher.  Our soy candles are
also available in the Essex Steam Train Gift Shop. We  loved customizing the labels with a photo of an old steam train.
